AI features in the DAM that also apply to your PIM

Product files in your PIM are pulled from the DAM, so the AI work you do on an asset in the DAM carries over to the products that use it. Descriptions, alt texts, keywords and tags generated on a file in the DAM stay with that file when it is attached to a product.

That makes several of the DAM AI tools worth setting up alongside the PIM features described below:

Text generation & translation on DAM fields – image descriptions and alt texts generated once on the asset, rather than per product
AI tagging – tags applied automatically to new assets as they are uploaded
Search similar and facial recognition – for finding the right asset to attach to a product
MCP integration – lets an AI assistant work with both your DAM and PIM data through a single connection

Choose an AI provider and add your API key

To start using AI within Kontainer, you will need to add an API key from your AI provider.

Kontainer supports multiple AI providers, so you can use the one that fits your organization's setup and data policies:

You add the API key for your chosen provider by going to Settings, then Configuration, and selecting AI. Here, there is a section for adding your API key.

This is the same setting used for the DAM AI features, so a provider added here covers both.

AI text settings

To configure the AI tool in a field, go to Resources and select PIM Fields.

Then, click on the three-dotted menu icon next to the field you'd like to configure and select AI text settings.

Once the settings window has opened, you can select between Standard or Custom AI prompt settings at the top.

Next, you can add the PIM elements from which you would like the text generator to pull data, add your prompt, and select a max text length at the bottom.

Generate and translate text

Once the configuration is done, you can start generating and translating text in your PIM by using the buttons Generate and Translate.

Manual editing

Any text generated or translated by the AI tool can be edited manually. Simply click on the text field and start editing.

It's as easy as that.
