The <\/span>Import\/Export<\/b> function in Kontainer\u2019s PIM (Product Information Management) system allows you to efficiently <\/span>bulk update product data<\/b>. This feature is especially useful when you need to make larger edits\u2014such as updating product descriptions, attributes, or other metadata\u2014directly in Excel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1: Choose Variant View<\/b><\/h3>\n

Before starting, make sure you are in <\/span>Variant View<\/b>, which displays all individual variants of your products.<\/span>
\n<\/span> This ensures that any updates or changes are applied to the correct variant level.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2: Export Product Data<\/b><\/h3>\n

You can export data in two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Export selected products:<\/b>
    \n<\/b> Mark the specific products you want to edit, then click <\/span>Import\/Export \u2192 Export<\/b>.<\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Export all products:<\/b>
    \n<\/b> If no products are selected, simply choose <\/span>Import\/Export \u2192 Export<\/b> to export your entire product list.

    An <\/span>Excel file<\/b> will be downloaded containing the selected product data.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Step 3: Edit the Excel File<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Open the downloaded Excel file to make your edits. For example, you might update product descriptions, change attribute values, or adjust pricing details.<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Do not edit or delete the first three columns<\/b> \u2014 these are internal Kontainer reference fields required for a successful import.<\/span>\"\"<\/li>\n
    • You may delete any other columns that you are not changing.<\/span>
      \n<\/span> This helps keep your file clear and can speed up the import process<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Editing Tips<\/b><\/h4>\n

      When editing your Excel file, please note the following rules:<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Empty cells:<\/b> No changes will be made to those fields.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Type \u201cNULL\u201d:<\/b> Deletes any existing value in that field.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Multi-value fields:<\/b> Separate multiple values with a semicolon (e.g. <\/span>Red;Blue;Green<\/span>).<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Select fields:<\/b> You can only use existing predefined values.<\/span>
        \n<\/span> If a value cannot be found in Kontainer, the system will highlight this during validation before import.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Once your edits are complete, <\/span>save the file locally<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Step 4: Import Updated Data<\/b><\/h3>\n

        Return to Kontainer (without having any products selected) and click <\/span>Import\/Export \u2192 Import<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. Select your updated Excel file.<\/span><\/li>\n

          Step 5: Validate & Confirm Changes<\/b><\/h3>\n

          Kontainer automatically checks your file before any data is updated.<\/span><\/p>\n

          • If errors are found:<\/b>
            \n<\/b> The system will display validation errors (for example, misspelled or non-existent values).<\/span>
            \n<\/span> You can correct these directly in Excel and re-upload the file.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/li>\n
          • If no errors are found:<\/b>
            \n<\/b> You\u2019ll see a summary of all proposed changes.<\/span>
