# Use Kontainer With Umbraco

Kontainer's Umbraco plugin adds a media picker to the Umbraco back office, giving editors direct access to approved assets from Kontainer while building and maintaining website content. Follow the instructions below to set it up and start using it.

*Note: Before using Kontainer in Umbraco, you need to install the Plugin. [**Find out more here**](https://marketplace.umbraco.com/package/kontainer.umbraco).*

See [***plugin resources on NuGet***](https://www.nuget.org/packages/kontainer.umbraco)and visit the [***Kontainer integration page***](https://kontainer.com/integrations/umbraco) for more information.

*Still running an older Umbraco 8 site? Use the legacy plugin and guide on Our Umbraco instead — see the note at the bottom of this article.*

## How-To: Install and Set Up Kontainer in Umbraco

### Install the plugin

1. Install the package from NuGet: `dotnet add package Kontainer.Umbraco` (or via the NuGet Package Manager Console: `Install-Package Kontainer.Umbraco)`
2. Build and restart your Umbraco application. The plugin's back-office files are automatically copied into your project.

### Add the Kontainer Media Picker

1. Open the Umbraco back office and go to **Settings**
2. Create a new **Data Type**
3. Select **Kontainer Media Picker** as the property editor
4. Enter your Kontainer domain and choose your selection settings (single or multiple, minimum/maximum number of items)
5. Add the Data Type to the relevant Document Type

Once this is done, editors will see the Kontainer picker on any content page that uses that Document Type.
