# TYPO3 integration guide

The Kontainer integration for TYPO3 enables you to connect your central Digital Asset Management (DAM) system directly with your TYPO3 CMS. This means editors and developers can search, select, and insert images, videos, documents and other media assets from Kontainer directly within the TYPO3 backend — without manual uploads or duplicated files.

By using Kontainer as your single source of truth and TYPO3 as your delivery platform, you get consistent, approved media across your sites and content workflows, reduced manual work, and fewer versioning errors.

Go to the [Kontainer integration page](https://kontainer.com/integrations/typo3) to find out more about the use cases, benefits, etc.

## Setup through API\

**Self-managed or partner-assisted implementation**

The TYPO3 integration can be implemented either by the Kontainer integrations team, with your own IT support or through a partner. The integration uses APIs to connect TYPO3 with Kontainer, allowing your CMS to fetch and manage assets dynamically without uploading them into TYPO3’s file storage.

**API resources and guides**

- [**The Kontainer API guide**](https://helpdesk.kontainer.com/article/kontainer-api-integration/) provides technical documentation for integrating external systems with Kontainer’s DAM & PIM via API.\
- [**TYPO3 API documentation**](https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-coreapi/main/en-us/ApiOverview/Index.html) outlines how TYPO3 extensions and modules can interact with external services and integrate functionality into the CMS.\

During setup, you’ll typically:

1. **Configure API credentials** in both Kontainer and TYPO3.
2. **Install and configure a TYPO3 extension or integration module** that connects to Kontainer.
3. **Map asset fields and metadata** so that images and files appear correctly in your editing interface.
4. **Test asset retrieval and insertion workflows** to confirm everything works as expected.

If you work with a partner or the Kontainer team, they can assist with best practices, extension setup, and custom workflow requirements.
