# Regions in Kontainer

Alongside Language and Time zone, Kontainer lets each user set a personal Region. This controls regional formatting conventions, such as how dates and numbers are displayed to you, separately from the language the interface itself is shown in.

## Where to set your region

1. Click your profile icon in the top right corner of Kontainer.
2. Select **Edit profile**.
3. Find the **Region** field, next to Language and Time zone.
4. Select your region from the drop-down list.
5. Click **Save** at the bottom of the page.

## Admins can set a company-wide default

Administrators can also set a default region for the entire Kontainer. This default acts as a fallback: it is only used for users who have not set a personal region of their own. Anyone who does set their own region under Edit profile will see dates and numbers formatted according to that region instead.

## Region vs. Language vs. Time zone

These three fields sit together on the same profile page but each control something different:

- **Language** – the language Kontainer's interface is displayed in for you.
- **Region** – your regional formatting conventions, such as how dates and numbers are written.
- **Time zone** – converts the dates and times Kontainer shows you into your own local time.

This means you can, for example, use an English interface while still seeing dates and numbers formatted the way they are conventionally written in your own country.

## A personal setting

Region, like Language and Time zone, is personal to your own user account. Changing it does not affect what other users in your Kontainer see, unless an admin has set a company-wide default and you haven't chosen a personal region yourself.

That's about it. Let us know in case of questions.
