Pro+ feature
In Kontainer, you can enrich your files with attributes, filters, tags, etc. These Custom Fields are helpful for keeping a good structure in your files and quickly finding, grouping, and sharing them.
Custom Fields can be set entirely after your individual use case – e.g., single- or multi-select fields, text fields, AI tags, etc. Read our complete guide on Custom Fields and Advanced tagging here and get in touch with us if you want to hear more about this.
Below, we want to show you how to see and edit your individual file data.
Want to skip ahead?
Edit data for a single file
When editing the data for a single file, click on the three-dotted menu on the file’s thumbnail and choose Edit file data.
In this example, we created a fictional fashion brand that uses product attributes and campaign categories as its file data. Again, these fields can be set up flexibly and entirely after your specific needs.
Add/change the desired values for each field and save.
Edit data for multiple files
You can also edit the file data fields for multiple files for quicker enrichment of your files.
Select multiple files and choose the three-dotted menu on one of the selected files’ thumbnails.
Alternatively, go to the More-menu in the top banner and select Edit file data there.
When editing data for multiple files, you will usually go through the files one by one and edit the values individually. In the top right corner, you will see the number of files in your current file selection.
At the bottom, you have three options:
- Click on save and next to proceed to the following file and save the changes.
- Skip, to jump to the next one, without making changes or without saving changes to the current item.
- Save for all if you want to confirm the selected data for all subsequent files in this selection. Be aware that this overwrites all filled-out fields, but no field values are deleted.
If you want to assign the same value for several files but only for specific, selected fields, use the “bulk edit” function instead.
Bulk edit file data
If some of your files need the same value in one data field, you can bulk edit your files.
A typical example of this could be newly uploaded pictures that should all be tagged with a new, upcoming campaign.
Or, say you have uploaded pack shots for a new product: all pictures should have the same EAN number assigned.
Simply bulk edit all the new images and add the EAN number for all of them. The values of the other custom fields will not be changed.
Make a selection of files and right-click on a file or click on the three-dotted menu on a thumbnail or in the more-menu at the top. Then select Bulk edit file data.
Here you can pick a custom field that you want to edit (e.g., EAN number), type in the new value and click on save to change this value for all files in the selection.
You can also use this function to empty a specific field for all files in a selection.
Description on hover
Quickly view the assigned file data by briefly hovering over the file.
For instance, if you want to go through the files in a folder and find the pack shot displaying the front of a product – or to quickly see if a file is missing a specific value.
In that way, you don’t need to open all files individually, but you can see the file data simply by hovering over it with your mouse cursor.
If you want to see the file data of a file when hovering over it with your cursor, you can enable this function under Settings > Configuration.
If you do not want this feature, you can switch it off in the same way at any time.
