# Archive folder

Move files to the Archive folder to detach them from the Album, Smart, and Mirror Folders without trashing and eventually deleting them. The Archive folder works differently from other folders, creating a midway point between active and trashed files.

Archived files will remain in the Archive until you take action to reuse or trash them. Typically, clients use the Archive to quickly remove files from general visibility until they have had time to review. That could be when a colleague leaves, or when usage agreements expire.

About archived files:

- Removed from folders
- CDN links deactivated
- Not searchable*
- Not trashed
- Not deleted

*Unless using a workaround
