# AI Features for DAM

**Pro+ or Addon Features**

Kontainer DAM offers several in-house AI tools developed to manage simple tasks and get quicker results. As always, the tools are easy to set up, manage and use.

The current AI tools for DAM include:

- **Text generation & translation:** for automated text generation, translation, object recognition, etc.
- **Facial recognition:** used to find other images of a specific person, in conjunction with consent management
- **Search similar:** searching for similar or identical images
- **AI tagging:** Auto-tagging new assets added with either Kontainers in-house AI or through a third-party, such as Amazon

## Text generation & translation

Use your AI provider, such as Copilot, OpenAI, Gemini, Amazon, xAI, Anthropic, and Copilot Studio in Kontainer. We allow text generation and translation based on tagged data, as well as object recognition.

The configuration is simple and customizable.

### Add AI provider

Start by adding your AI provider under ***Settings*** → ***Configuration*** → ***AI***.

You can choose Kontainer's Local AI from the Dropdown. This comes at an additional fee. [Contact Support](mailto:support@kontainer.com) for pricing.

### Configure DAM fields

Go to ***Resources*** → ***DAM** **fields*** with ***AI settings*** available

### Set prompt

Add a ***standard*** or ***custom*** prompt depending on your needs.

If you select ***Generate automatically***, the provided text is generated and updated when the file data changes.

#### AI image descriptions

When creating ***custom*** prompts, you can instruct the AI to "look" at the image and create a description using the code token **{File content|file:content}**\
 **Example:** look at {File content|file:content} and make an image description in German.

A few other prompt tokens are also available, so you can pull in more than just the file's content:

- **{file:name}** – inserts the file's name
- **{file:created_at}** – inserts the file's creation date
- **{file:content:{elementId}}** – a scoped version of the content token that lets you reference the content of a specific element/field, rather than the file as a whole

#### **AI tag and field value generation**

In addition to image descriptions, the AI can also generate **tags** and **values for select fields** based on your assets.

To configure this, open the **AI text generation settings** for the relevant field and choose your setup:

- **Instruction preset** – Select "Tag" to use the built-in tag assistant, which automatically assigns the most relevant tags based on the asset's context. You can also switch to the **Custom** tab to write your own prompt.
- **Input values** – Select which asset data the AI should use as context (file name, metadata, etc.).
- **Maximum amount of tags** – Use the slider to set how many tags the AI may generate (1–50).
- **Only use existing options** – Check this box to restrict the AI to your predefined tag list, rather than creating new ones.
- **Generate automatically** – Enable this to have tags generated without manual triggering.

## Facial recognition

1. Open an image in gallery mode and click the ***Facial recognition*** icon in the top menu
2. Ensure the right face is selected
3. Press ***Search***

## Search similar

1. Right-click and image
2. Select the option ***Find similar images***
3. Use the results slider to narrow or widen the search results

## MCP integration possibilities

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets LLM providers such as ChatGPT, Claude, Amazon Bedrock, Mistral and Copilot connect directly to your Kontainer instance, so an AI assistant can work with your DAM or PIM assets on your behalf.

Access is scoped to whichever user's credentials generate the connection, so the AI can only do what that user is permitted to do, whether that means downloading files, editing metadata or deleting assets.

Kontainer supports two ways to authenticate an MCP connection:

- **HTTP header authentication** – using an existing or new JSON API token as a bearer token
- **OAuth 2.0** – authorizing a specific user's access, similar to logging in with an external account

## AI tagging (legacy)

Once AI tagging is set up, it will automatically run on any new assets added in Kontainer.

To adjust the settings, go to ***Settings* → *Configuration* → *AI***. Please be aware that changes will only affect assets uploaded after they are made.

### Setup options

Our own Kontainer AI tagging is trained in-house. It is separate from Google, Amazon, etc., and no data will be shared outside of the compounds of your Kontainer. The feature is GDPR-compliant and doesn't compromise any of your images and files.

The AI tagging feature can also be integrated with a third-party supplier like Amazon. The Kontainer Customer Success team will help configure this. [Contact them here](mailto:support@kontainer.com) for more information.

## Semantic search

Semantic search lets your users find assets by describing them — *"packshots of leather bags without people"* — rather than by matching keywords. An AI model indexes every file in your library, and a second one interprets what the user typed, so results are returned on meaning rather than exact wording.

The feature is an add-on, currently in **Beta**, and is enabled per client by the Kontainer team. See the *Add-on – Semantic AI Search tokens* table further down for pricing.
